The Summmer Planetarium Program is not being run for
the near future due to time constraints. We apologize for any inconvenience
this may cause.
The planetarium is a mainstay of Spacesim's Elementary
Education Program during the scholastic year, and soon it's coming to a
summer camp near you! The inflatable Starlab™ planetarium allows us to show
the stars and constellations that dot the skies at night.
The planetarium program is available to all age levels, and
each presentation can take between 30 and 60 minutes depending on the level
of detail requested. During each session inside the planetarium the campers
are taught basic astronomy, the Greek myths behind some of the
constellations, and the effects of light pollution.
For Orienteering camps, we could place special emphasis on
how the stars are used for navigation; for science camps, we would place
emphasis on concepts such as luminosity vs. brightness and how colour of a
star indicates its relative temperature; for theme camps, we can even
provide resources to ensure that your "Space" theme is as
accurate as it is entertaining.
The Summer Planetarium Program is available in either
half-day of full-day sizes, which last either 3 or 6 hours. The half-day
presentation costs $150 and the full-day presentation costs $250. Prices
are negotiable. All that is required to benefit from this outstanding
service is a largish room and a desire to learn about space and have fun
doing so.
The Summer Planetarium Program Coordinator is Jen Li .
